I've been working via video since before the Internet! (Wow, that just made me feel old.)  Goalies, parents and coaches send me edited video clips of their goalies via YouTube and I'm able to audit them for a fast turnaround.  Your video doesn't end up live on YouTube for the world to see, it's just you and me.  I'll show you how to do that once we get started.

You'll be shocked and amazed at the amount of coaching I can give you by seeing some random iPhone footage from your backyard.  I can talk to you about stance and positioning and movement and if your goalie has any physical imbalances you need to look out for. (Twenty plus years of strength and conditioning coaching can do that.)  Sometimes footage like that tells me more about a goalie than some of the best college footage.

I am very open about the benefits of attending a big camp. There are "gem's" to be learned at a camp.  The experience is part of it.  If you are looking to send your goalie away for a few days of camp this summer, go for it.

But I suspect if you are reading this you are looking to impact your goalie...right now.  Within a few days I can provide you with guidance that may drastically impact the direction of your goalie's development.  You don't need to wait.  You don't need to pay a ton of money and worry about travel and accomodations, etc.  For the price of what you pay to go to a camp you can work with me for a number of months.  Months.

Camps can be great, but they can also be a waste of money. Depending on what your goalie needs, they may or may not get it.  If you rate quality by how hot and sweaty your goalie gets, go for it.  But consumer beware, your goalie may end up with a college kid who doesn't yet know how to coach. When you ask your goalie, "How was it?" they will come back with a hearty "It was fun!", but they may not have learned anything.

Listen, it's always fun to strap on the pads and get shot on under the lights.  I still remember my own days of going to events like that.  Again, it's my "gem" theory.  Your goalie may end up with a gem or two, but if he's getting shot on by non-goalies then he's just getting more shots. I critique every ball in your video and that's WAY more coaching than you'll get in a camp with multiple goalies.

Here's the truth about training a goalie, after about thirty minutes, they are shot.  Cooked.  Neurologically exhausted.  You just can't train a goalie effectively for any more time than that.  But the environment can be fun!  I don't take anything away from that. But if you're looking to "fill" three hours worth of time then you're going to do a lot of stuff that feels like "work" but isn't really impacting your goalie.

I want to make an impact.

I've been pretty vocal about why most college kids aren't great coaches.  Heck, most professional goalies, I'm finding, aren't very good either.  

Are they great people? Totally.  Do kids look up to them? Completely.  Do they know what they are doing?  Rarely.  

I can't tell you how many goalie audits I do where a young goalie has been working with a local "goalie" coach who is just rehashing old, outdated information that they learned from their coach and their coach's coach.
